Recovery Services

We provide efficient and affordable recovery services throughout the United States.

Tare Weight

The term “tare weight” refers to the weight of an empty cylinder.

We pay for the refrigerant inside of a cylinder, not for the “tare weight” of the cylinder itself.

If you still have trouble finding the tare weight, we are happy to help.

How Much Refrigerant Do you Have?

Disposable Cylinders

Disposable cylinders typically have the original brand name and only one valve.

  • A 30lb disposable cylinder has a tare weight of 6lbs.
  • A 50lb disposable cylinder has a tare weight of 10lbs.
  • A 15/20lb disposable cylinder has a tare weight of 4lbs.

If you have a full 30lb disposable cylinder, it will weigh 36lbs.

If you have an empty 30lb disposable cylinder, it will weigh 6lbs.

Recovery Cylinders

Recovery cylinders vary in size and tare weight but are typically heavier than disposable cylinders.

The actual tare weight can be found stamped on the “neck” or “collar” of the cylinder. Look for the letters “TW” followed by numbers indicating the tare weight.

  • A 145lb recovery cylinder will have a tare weight of 55lbs.
  • A 50lb recovery cylinder will typically have a tare weight of 35lbs.
  • A 30lb recovery cylinder will typically have a tare weight of 20lbs.

If you have a full 145lb recovery cylinder, it will weigh 200lbs.

If you have an empty 145lb recovery cylinder, it will weigh 55lbs.
